A Sub Pop Records Celebration (69-song anthology / classic Singles Club)

Jonathan Poneman & Bruce Pavitt: Seattle wizards

OMG. Am I dreaming or Sub Pop Records catalogue is really back on Spotify?!? Did it come along with the july US opening? Well, that's great. Sub Pop was one of the few very big and very influential and very glorious rock indie-labels still missing from the service. So it deserves a big & influential & glorious celebration.
Let's try...!

THE SUB POP 69
69 songs by 69 different artists, throughout label's history. From Mudhoney to Nirvana, from The Postal Service to The Shins, from Iron & Wine to Band of Horses, from Tad to Codeine, from About a Girl to Such Great Heights, from proto-grunge to post-folk. Wondering about the tracklist's criteria? No alphabetical order. No chronology. And I didn't choose the songs, either. You did it. Or better: I simply picked the best ranked ones - in the label's catalogue - by the Spotify community. One song each artist. Starting with the most listened ones and slowly moving to less known territories. Nirvana just at #12? Ah, these young and hipsteric Spotify people... :o)

THE SUB POP SINGLES CLUB...
... reloaded. I already tried making a playlist out of Sub Pop's historical monthly subscription mail service... more than a year ago. It was a disaster: just 23 songs found, out of the 200/210 of the full series. Today, it's a little better. Most songs are still missing, but I found 52. 33 from the "first" Club (grunge era, 1988-93), 19 from the "second" Club (modern age, 1998-2002). I updated the old playlist (with songs from both the series) and I made two new different playlists, for people who prefer not mixing Fugazi with Bright Eyes.
