British weekly NME just compiled a a Top50 songs and a Top50 albums of the decade so far. As you may guess from the picture, these lists are dominated by Arctic Monkeys (two songs, two albums #1 album) and Kanye West (two songs, three album, #1 song). Quite interestingly, there are some differences between these Top50s and the Top50 of year 2014 recently published by the same magazine. For example, here Jamie T's Zombie makes a big jump, becoming #2 song of 2014 after Future Islands' Seasons (in the 2014 chart, it was only #8). While La Roux's Trouble In Paradise - #6 album in the 2014 chart - simply disappears from the best of the decade. Another interesting fact, these are not charts for old men. Few artists are long-time players, from the 1990s and before: David Bowie, Nick Cave, Noel Gallagher, Blur, Daft Punk. Last trivia: 98% of songs and albums are available on Spotify.
