Info:  «Metacritic is a website that aggregates reviews of music albums, games, movies, TV shows, DVDs, and formerly, books. For each product, a numerical score from each review is obtained and the total is averaged» (from Wikipedia). Metacritic 75 is a series of playlists collecting all new albums (no reissues, anthologies, live albums) that get a 75+ aggregated score generated by at least 15 reviews. On running years, the playlist is periodically updated and closed on January of the following year. This playlist collects new albums published in 2010.

Better consumed watching The Big Picture 2010 in Pictures 

What:

When I started the Spotify series of end of 2010 lists, I also started making an aggregated chart of albums and songs. A very simple one: taking the top50 positions of each chart and assigning 50 points to #1, 49 points to #2, ecc. ecc. Just to have a final chart to publish the last day of the year. Then I discovered that - as it always happens on Internet - someone else was doing the same, but far more better than me. Acclaimed Music is not only a great statistics site where you can find aggregated charts of the top 3000 albums and songs of all time. Since 2007, they also make aggregated end-of-the-year charts, mixing several lists taken from magazines, websites and other sources through the world. They even differentiate their charts on geographical basis (you can see who is number one in USA, UK or rest of the world) and tell you when a song has actually being published in 2009. Definitely, a better work than mine. So, to properly celebrate the last day of 2010 I decided to use their charts, as they are evolving on the website's forum. These are still not definitive and - even if I won't make any other eoy2010 playlist - I promise to update them when Acclaimed publishes the definitive ones. Anyway, they are already built on dozens of different sources. If you wanna a good, comprehensive, critics-friendly summary of 2010 in music, these should work. Enjoy, say bye to 2010 and hello to 2011. :o)

Rockit Top 100 Italian Songs of 2010

What:

Some little Italy for you. Rockit is the most important local website fully dedicated to Italian alternative, indie and underground music. They started in the prehistorical age of Internet (in the 1990s) and today organize even a little nice summer festival in Milan (Mi Ami). This is the spotiversion of their Top 100 of Italian songs in 2010. I just found 47 tunes. You know, Italy is officially out of Spotify, yet. Happy to see that the Top 20 includes three songs from my favourite Italian albums of the year (A Toys Orchestra, Perturbazione and Massimo Volume). Enjoy!

Bonus MP3 Tracks:

Few days ago, some Italian indie bands published a complete tribute to the monumental Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, to celebrate its 15th anniversary. It's not on Spotify, but you can download it from here. Less distorted guitars more acoustic ones, less drums more gentle electronica, less screams more moanings. I liked it. Especially, I liked the covers of songs that I didn't listen very much on the SP original album (Muzzle, Thru the Eyes of Ruby...). Think about it as a lo-fi electro-country tribute from Sicily. Try it!
