Info: February 12, 2017, several Prince albums got back on Spotify. This is a Top 50 playlist I made addin' up five different critic, audience-based or commercial Prince charts available online:


I assigned 100 points to #1 song, 99 points to #2, 98 points to #3, etc. Below you can find the full chart.

Top 20 John Lennon Songs (as solo artist)


He doesn't know it, but John Lennon is on Spotify. All his eight post-Beatles albums have finally been made available on the service, along with three compilations. In order to celebrate the news, I made a little crowdsourced playlist, like the one I did last year for grunge songs. I took twelve John Lennon charts from the Web and I counted 10 points for the #1 song, 9 points for #2, 8 points for #3, etc. The result is the following Top 20.

Top 20 Lou Reed songs (crowdsourced)



... just another Lou Reed Spotify playlist.

It's based on twenty charts and "essential lists" from ABC News, Best Ever Albums, Diffuser.fm, The Guardian, iTunes Italy (most popular songs), Last.fm (most heard songs in the last 6 months), Mirror, Music VF, PopMatters, Rolling Stone, Salon, SputnikMusic, Spotify (most popular songs), Stereogum, The Good, The Bad and the Unknown, Time, Top10, Ultimate Classic Rock, Whatculture!, Yahoo! Voices.

The mathematical rules are:
Charts --> 10 points for #1 song, 9 points for #2...
Uncharted lists --> 5 points for each song...

Top 50 Grunge Songs


While listening to the new album by Alice In Chains The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, I suddenly felt an overwhelming need for grunge. The one from the good ol' times, from the 90s: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Staley's Alice In Chains... Then I decided to surf for some good genre charts online. I found plenty of them. Not from the big media side of the Web, but rising from the land of blogs, radios, fans, communities. All smelling like a warm memory of teen spirit. So I played a game: I picked 12 of these charts and I assigned some points to each song. 100 points for #1, 99 for #2, 98 for #3 and so on.

The result is the following Top 50, that I soon spotified and that now is lovely soundtracking a little insomniac mid-june night.

I assumed it as a proof of love and, somehow, quality. Making a Top 10 is a quick and easy shot, making a Top 25 requires you some more time & passion.
