Jazz Magazine/Jazzman Les Chocs 2013 and Les Inrocks World Jazz Chanson 2013

Merry Christmas in jazz. Jazz Magazine/Jazzman is a French monthly publication, result of 2009 merger between the two magazines. "Les Chocs 2013" is not an actual chart, but a selection of the jazz albums that has been a "choc" for the mag critics in 2013: one choc each journalist. It's a rather varied selection and - even if just half albums are available on Spotify - I think it may be a soundtrack fit for a happy and quiet festivity. As a bonus, always coming from France, more world-spiced, the selection of Les Inrockuptibles best world/jazz/chanson albums of 2013 (if you're interested in jazz, you can also check the Jazzwise Top 20 New Releases of 2013).

Les Inrocks 100 meilleurs albums et 50 meilleurs chansons de 2013

French weekly Les Inrockuptibles is one of my favorite non-english magazines. They just published a special "best of 2013" issue, with lists of Top 100 albums, Top 50 tracks and Top 50 reissued albums of the year (along with detailed infos and interviews with La Femme, Nick Cave, Janelle Monae, Phoenix, Valerie June, Woodkid...). You can order it online, both in printed or digital version. These playlists are good, especially if you want to know something more about francophone/french music of 2013: in the Top 10, for example, you have albums by La Femme (#2), Bertrand Belin (#6), Stromae (#8), Etienne Daho (#9). Besides, Les Inrocks choices are rather Spotify-friendly (just one album missing in the Top50, three in the Top100, four tracks in the Top50).

Maybe I'm boring, but I say it again: Les Inrocks is probably the magazine that better tunes with my personal music tastes. So I think this will be one of my most listened EOY playlists. What:

Les Inrockuptibles is a French weekly music & culture magazine, that recently got a big refresh (more politics, more reportages, a stronger news-magazine approach). I'm a long-time subscriber, and usually I feel very close to its musical tastes. This is the Spotify version of Les Inrocks list of best 50 albums of 2010.

Comment:

It may sound strange, because they're invariably in the top positions, but this is the first list with Arcade Fire at #1. Some French acts are featured, too. And if you were looking for a chart with Carl Barat, well, at last you found it!
