Top 200 Tracks of the 1990s (Pitchfork Staff Lists #4, 2010)

From Pitchfork:
In that respect, this list was different from any we've put together. For the first time, the age of the writer being polled had a huge impact on how he or she understood the music of the decade at hand. When Nirvana hit in late 1991, a couple of us were in our early 20s, while more than a few others were still in grade school. That gap proved to be an interesting puzzle. The further we got into voting, the more it became apparent that there were so many sides to the 90s story that it made sense to tell as many of them as possible. So unlike any big list we've ever done, we've only included one song per artist in order to take in as much as we can. Because of this approach, we've also included a collection of "See also" tracks to go deeper into the specific bands, sounds, and scenes.
Here you got a double Spotify playlist. First one is based on the Top 200, second one includes the "see also" tracks, too.

Top 100 Albums of the 1980s (Pitchfork Staff Lists #03)

From Pitchfork:
It's said that the 1980s are responsible for the worst fashion, fads, and music of any decade of the 20th century. But as we see the decade recycled and updated with post-millennial minimalism, it's becoming clear that the 1980s had more to offer than we've given them credit for. As the calendar left the classless earthtones and polyester of the 1970s behind, musicians looked to the future for inspiration in new genres. With this feature, Pitchfork seeks to prove that, amidst the smooth-jazz of Kenny G, the vanilla soul of Hall & Oates, and the white-trash hair-rock of Warrant, lay a revolution in sound. It is to the vision and perseverance of many of these artists that we owe the roots of hip-hop, synth-pop, and most notably for this publication, alternative and indie rock. Respect is due.

Top 100 Albums of the 1970s (Pitchfork Staff Lists #02)

From Pitchfork (june 2004):
As the psychedelic 60s gave way to hippie backlash and high ambitions, one thing was clear: there was something damn funny about peace, love and understanding. Shaking off naturalism, daisy chains and acid tabs came easier than expected, and what resulted was a paradox of both striking diversity and remarkable coherence: from high-concept prog-nerds and high-octane guitar solo to high-heeled glam-rockers and high-ass punks, the 70s saw the rise and dominance of the album-as-unified-statement. Pitchfork now takes the opportunity to present this list of its favorite albums of that decade.
From original Spotirama post (june 2010):
I compiled three Spotify playlists with this Top 100. In the mammoth, you'll get the complete albums I found on Spotify (original editions, no legacies or deluxes...). In the graduated, I put 2 songs for albums from position 81 to 100, 3 songs for 61-80, 4 songs for 41-60, 5 songs for 21-40 and 6 songs for 1-20 (few jazz exceptions: Miles Davis albums usually have just few extralong tunes). The lite one, instead, features only one song each album: it's kind of a nonsense, because this is a long-playing charts, you should listen to the full work, not the singles. But I love to shuffle and I think this can be a good short cut to taste the general flavour of the decade (and of the chart).

The 200 Greatest Songs of the 1960s (Pitchfork Staff Lists 1/34)

From Pitchfork:
People always ask: "When is Pitchfork gonna run a list of the top albums of the 1960s?" The answer today? Probably never. Not that we didn't consider it. It's just that when we sat down to map it all out, we found it would be more rewarding to approach the decade through its songs instead. After all, it was by and large a single-oriented era-- the long-player didn't really take over as a creative medium until the 60s had nearly come to an end. And besides, Revolver's ego is out of hand as it is.
